retrieving payment from a contact who does not have PayPal and the payment has gone through

Hi I am looking help in regards to a payment I made to a friends email address the payment has gone through but she has since advised me that she doesn`t even have PayPal.  I have tried the use the resolution centre but it only gives me the option to report suspicious activity etc.  Help would be greatly appreciated

If its showing as SENT or COMPLETED on your paypal account and not pending/unclaimed then it has successfully transferred to the email address you sent it to that is linked to an active paypal account.

So check you didn't make a typo in the email address you used.

Also is this a real friend? Only scammers tell you to send using the friends/family option (if that is what you used) and then pretend they haven't received it knowing there is nothing you can do about it if you used that option to pay for goods or services.

However if you used goods/services and its showing as PAYMENT or COMPLETE then open a dispute for non receipt of item?
