How many times can Paypal put your money on hold? I'm a new Virtual Assistant and my clients pays his VAs via Paypal. However, having my money on hold 21 days is very inconvenient. How many times will Paypal hold your payment? And also, will they release the payments at the same time? If not, what is the count of the 21 days for the 2nd payment? is it when the 1st payment is released or when they send you the money?

“How many times can Paypal put your money on hold?”
As many times as possible until PayPal determines have you have built up good history of receiving payments. When your money is on hold, it still belongs to you. It’s just temporarily unavailable to use, so PayPal can learn more about your selling habits. They do it to protect both buyers and sellers as best they can. In the long run, this practice helps to ensure a safer place to do business.
PayPal review sellers’ accounts on a regular basis. Establishing a good selling history with PayPal will help to avoid holds in the future.
If there are no issues with the transactions such as disputes, claims or chargebacks, the funds should typically be released within 21 days from the date of payment.
In some markets*, you can mark your item as "shipped" or "processed" to gain earlier access to your funds.
Here's how to mark your item as “shipped” by providing the shipping details on the “Transaction Details” page.
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Go to “My Account” and click Overview near the top of the page.
- Under recent activity, click Transactions details for the transaction ID.
- Click Mark as shipped and submit the tracking details, by updating the “Order status”, “Tracking number” and the “Shipping company” used.
If your item doesn't need to be shipped (e-books, piano lessons, etc.), mark the order as “processed” and provide the required details.
*Right now the "Mark as shipped" feature is only available in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, UK, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Taiwan, US, Vietnam, and South Africa. We'll continuously expand our service and make this available to more markets over time.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
