Hello everyone, any idea what can I do if the seller misspelled the email address and money landed onto wrong account, I requested back and messaged the person, but there is a silence…? what is weird I tried to send again 1 euro to check if it’s real email or not and now it’s saying this person can’t accept payment(weird, what does that mean). I also didn’t get an email with receipt which I usually get when the money landed, any ideas will be appreciated! Thank you P.S. Payment is completed, I can’t cancel

What does it say on the transaction in your paypal account ie pending / unclaimed, is there a cancel option / payment or sent???

Secondly how did you send the funds ie goods/services or friends/family.

Lastly how did you fund the paypal payment.

If you would like advice please answer all the questions.

Thank you for your reply. 1.There is no cancel option, payment already sent. 2.The payment was for friends 3.payment funded right from my mastercard. Don‘t know if it‘s helpful somehow, now I can‘t send anything to this person, get a message „this person can‘t receive payments“

ok, if its saying SENT and its not showing as unclaimed then it has successfully completed to the email address that you sent it to.

At the time you sent it the account was an active account.

Sadly scam sellers tell you to use that option knowing that they can pretend they did not receive it and as you used the friends/family option there is nothing you can do about it.

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.
