A strange issue that I hits and I'm hoping someone in the community may actually have a solution...
A very long story - but I have been using paypal to pay for google subscription and payment suddenly got declined over the weekend. I tried removing and then re-add the payapl account - but I keep getting the "We're sorry, we couldn't confirm it's you" error paypal URL. Contacted paypal support - the first staff was quite helpful in explaining may be an issue with currency and removed old payment agreement in my paypal account, while I contact google support to make sure my google is with the correct country / currency.
After everything is confirmed - try adding the account again, same error. So I contact paypal support again - this time the support (different one) sounds a bit frustrated - understandable given the error message gives no useful info whatsoever; support insisted that it is google issue but we later thought it was related to two factor authentication (it showed a different screen after 2FA on paypal was turned off). Thought the issue was resolved so I closed the support ticket as requested, and planning on talking to google support again once I got some time...
Then I try to go to ebay earlier to buy something, and exact same error now appears on ebay. Obviously it is not a subscription, and I always have to login to buy stuff on ebay so it's not like there should be an issue with authentication. On top of that - I was able to pay using paypal on ebay before with the 2FA (and fairly recently also), so doubtful it is a ebay error.
Strange thing is - when I try using the paypal account later to pay a telco bill (I just type in paypal account when I use it) and it works. Note that I did notice not only I now have issue with both ebay and google, I also have issue when trying to remove google permission in the data sharing permission screen within the paypal site itself.
At this point, I can only reach to the conclusion whatever authentication issue it only started recently (since ebay was working until recently), and not linked to 2FA (I'm hopeful it's not my account that was broken - but the new error I got on the paypal site is slightly worrying).
Has anyone hit this issue or have a possible solution that I can try? To be frank I already spent hours for the last couple of night talking to paypal support (and google support) and I'm not sure I want to spend days again and with ebay support in the mix... I don't really mind that strange error when I'm on the paypal site as I just want to make things work again. I'm hoping someone hit similar issues before and already know of a solution, since this error seems to happen fairly frequently...
Thanks!
