The same purchases taken from my PayPal account funds and my bank account so I'm paying twice!

I have have been using PayPal for a long time, but realised that my bank charges me 70p for every debit that comes via PayPal. To avoid this additional expense I thought it would be a good idea to load up my PayPal account with funds so that nothing would get taken from my bank account.  Sure enough my PayPal funds were going down inline with my purchases... BUT, and to my horror when I looked at my online bank statement I saw that the very same purchases were also showing, still being taken from my bank account!  So I have been paying double, and the bank will still charge me 70p for each of those debits.

I thought that whilst I had funds in my PayPal account, my bank account would be left alone. This is messed up and just crazy... how do I stop my bank taking money for purchases already paid for via my PayPal funds. Jesus, I've probably been ripped off like this for years!

Please ignore my message above, my mistake. All seems good.

Problem arose from the fact that it took 8 days for the transfer of funds from my bank account to my PayPal account, and then a further 5 days for my bank to catch up on PayPal payments, so my bank statement appeared to show payments still going out. But 8 days for money to transfer. What a joke!
