Question about funds held for private sales.

Hello. I have noticed that with several of my private sales the funds were held until the buyer received the item. And for others at the same forum the funds were available immediately. Is it a specific dollar amount that causes a hold, and if so does anyone know it? Or are there other factors at play? Thanks

Accounts have a release amount and this amount fluctuates every month. If you exceed the release amount for the month, your payments thereafter will be subject to holds until next month. As you build a good track record with PayPal and PayPal’s system starts to understand your selling activity. The release amount may increase and you’ll see lesser holds and more immediate release of payments.
There are also other reasons why payments are subject to holds:
- sender forget to select friends and family option when they pay
- sender cannot send a friends and family payment, only goods and services payment
- your account is new at receiving goods and services payments
- haven’t received payments in a long time or unusual activity for your account
- because PayPal detects high value or highly risky transactions
- change in products/services being sold
- received numerous complaints, disputes from customers or other users
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
