Paypal charges card instead of checking account

I added my Paypal account to Apple so I could use my bank account as an option to pay. Instead it charges my debit card which makes me mad cause thats not what I am trying to use. So I take off the debit card so Paypal is forced to charge with the bank account but it just says declined. I have the funds in my account and I transfer money from my bank to my paypal account all the time but I dont always want to wait 5 days. Why does Paypal no longer accept checking account payments? It does the same for other websites it just shows my debit card as an option when trying to purchase using Paypal..

Thank you for your post.  It is possible that the preferred funding source might have been set as your card. Please update the preferred funding source so that the payments will go through accordingly. Here is how you can change the preferred funding source.
