My payment from my customer is on hold. I have been getting paid by this customer since 2020.

Hello,

Since 2020 I have been selling my empty ink cartridges to my business partner who sells refilled cartridges. I have always sent them invoices using paypal for 500$. This normally causes a 24 hour hold. Which is no problem. But today after the 24 hour hold from our last invoice I got this message.

  • We noticed an unusually large increase in your sales activity.

If there are no issues with your orders, the money will be automatically released after 21 days.

When I clicked on the held funds , it gave me a option to get my funds. It asked if the item my customer paid for was virtual or real. I chose real and it asked me to upload the tracking. Now it says

*You have recently updated your shipment information. You’ll get your money within 1 day of delivery.

The only problem with this is that we use the funds from the purchase to complete the batch and buy the raw materials for our buyer. We have been doing it this way since 2020. But now those funds are held up till delivery ? But we can't complete the order unless we have the funds. Is there someone who i can talk to to help us with this ?

Just a heads up for anyone who has this issue in the future. It looks like paypal is changing , Maybe this is the market and times we live in. But I am seeing lots of paypal long time users also get hit with the 21 day holds. The message now says that my funds will be released in 1 day after item is received by my business partner. However this has created a certain amount of uncertainty and trust in future use of paypal as a payment system. We switched over to our merchant processor for all future payments coming in or out. Our partner was willing to forward us the funds for the next shipment.  Got the funds for the next payment within a few minutes with access to them. Cheers I guess , it was a good service while it lasted.

With payments received for tangible goods Paypal would request valid tracking information confirming the item has been delivered to the buyer. They can validate the tracking information online, so once it is delivered they can release the funds. IF you have received the funds for a service / virtual or digital sale or no tracking number is applicable Paypal would be unable to release the funds any sooner than 21 days.

However If you mark the transaction as processed then the buyer sender may have the option on their account to mark the transaction as delivery/satisfied. If the buyer sender confirms this by clicking on the "Confirm Receipt" button, funds may be released sooner ie 7 days after the buyer sender verifies receipt. This is not always available or guaranteed.
If not then sadly its 21 days.

Hello,

Is there anyone to call to get this released ? I have history of this very buyer going back since 2020 making the same payments over and over.  How would one mark this paid invoice as processed ? And paypal has never asked for tracking before. This is the first time. I have used paypal for this for years. It already tells me I will get my funds 1 day after delivery which would be 5 days travel time + 1 day. But I need access to them sooner.

I don't want to close my paypal account. perhaps you have sent me that link by accident ? However if this becomes the norm , I guess I will be forced to send invoices to my partner via our merchant account from now on.

That is why my above post was directed at ''rosscustoms'' and not at you.

The @surplusremotes at the top of every post directs who the reply is for.
