Different PayPal transfer amounts?

Hi:
I need to send 544 euros to France using PayPal. In my CAD PayPal account > Wallet > Currency calculator, it's showing me CAD$807.00 = 544.28 euros. However, when I go to the merchant's website and click on the PayPal button (on the same web browser, logged into PayPal, in a different tab), it's showing me CAD$814.98. Why is there a difference between the amounts in the Currency calculator and the merchant's website?
Thanks.

Hello @indo_canadian,
Welcome! Thanks for joining PayPal's Community Forum. I can understand how it can be a bit confusing seeing two different amounts in the calculator and on the merchant's site. The rate you see in the calculator is an estimate based on the current rate and includes PayPal’s currency conversion spread. Also, PayPal receives a wholesale rate quote from our bank twice a day to determine the retail foreign exchange rate to apply to transactions that involve a currency conversion. With that in mind, depending on when you send the funds and when you had calculated the conversion, the amount may change slightly.
Also, if you send money using a debit or credit card, you can choose to use your card issuer's conversion rate instead of ours. If you choose to use your card issuer's rate, you won't know the conversion rate right away. It'll appear on your card statement. To select your card issuer's rate when making a payment, just select the currency you are converting your funds to when making your payment.
My apologies for any inconvenience and confusion this has caused,
- Jon K

Hello @PayPal_JonK:
Thanks for your response and explanation of the details behind the calculator display figures vs. the wholesale rate used for the actual currency conversion transactions. I had two browser tabs open at the same time when I did this - one tab showed the calculator figures and the other tab showed the actual calculation for the currency conversion from PayPal from the merchant's website. Hence the confusion and this post in the community.
And yes I did see the option to pay in my local currency (CAD$) or the currency that I was converting to (Euros), but I wasn't sure. As I've always paid in my local currency, I just chose that option. Maybe next time, I'll try the option of the currency that I'm converting to, just to compare.
No worries and Thanks again.
