Can I receive money for a ticket purchase from Canada? If so, do I need to do anything on my end first?

Yes. And currency conversion fee built in to exchange rate applies upon receipt of payment if you invoice/request money in $CAD instead of USD. PayPal will automatically convert the CAD to USD for you.
