Can’t I add tracking to a PayPal order

I made a first sale from shopify, money is on hold by paypal. In order to get the money I have to provide a tracking code. When I add tracking it says an error:"That's an invalid transaction."  I tried to mark the order as Shipped without tracking, does not work. The funny thing is that I will never get the money as I cant add a tracking number.

Adding the tracking can help get the funds released more quickly, but if you don't add tracking that doesn't mean you will never receive the money.  

One way to get it released right away is if the buyer clicks a link in the transaction details on their side verifying they have received the product/service.

If that doesn't happen and you never enter tracking, then as long as no dispute is filed, the funds should be released to you around the 28 - 30 day mark.
