Can I send money to someone who doesn't have a PayPal account?

Hello! Can I send money to someone who doesn't have a PayPal account?  And, if not, what do I do if I already thought I did? My bank shows the deduction but the recipient doesn't show the deposit.

What does it say on your side? If its NOT pending or unclaimed but showing as completed / payment or sent then it has successfully gone to the email address you sent it to which is linked to an open paypal account.

Hi! That’s the problem, though. I didn’t realize the intended recipient doesn’t have a PayPal account. Could the money be floating around in cyberspace?

Oh, Yes on my side it says money was sent. But she said she hasn’t received it and that she doesn't have a PayPal account.

If its showing as SENT then it has successfully completed to the email address you sent it to that is linked with an open paypal account.

If it did not it would show as pending / unclaimed on your side.

Be careful of scammers that tell you to send funds that way and then pretend that they have not received anything knowing that you negated your buyer protection using that option and can't open a dispute.

Okay, thank you for the information! This is someone I've known for 3 years. She is the mother of one of my music students. She has paid me for teaching her son the lessons all that time. The last payment she made wasn't necessary because he was about to graduate and his lessons stopped. So, this was a refund for that payment to me. She had always paid me through Zelle and she said it was because she doesn't have a PayPal account. But, she is going to check her bank account just in case. Thank you for confirming that the money actually did go out!

I would like to inform you that if you have send the payment to anyone who doesn't have the PayPal account then it will show in your transaction as pending or unclaimed. I suggest please check the link for more details regarding the amount and when or how you will get the money back.
