Business Account and Gifts

My mother sent me money for my birthday, but my paypal is a business account, and the funds are still on hold because the account is new, is there any way to clarify that this was a gift, not a sale, so the funds will be released? I don't care about the fee, it was small enough to ignore.

Its down to how the payment was sent to an account.

1. If sent using money > goods / services option then paypal would see the recipient as a seller and apply the new seller hold. They would also charge a fee.

2. If sent using the send money > family / friends option then the recipient would have the payment instantly (as long as it wasn't an echeque pending with a clearance date) with no fee if funded from a bank account or balance (a fee if you use a card).

Thanks for the tip, I will have to show her how to do that. The business paypal is really only set up because I had to for Twitch affiliate program.

Would you suggest I "refund" her the money, and then walk her through how to send me the cash with the "family" option?

If you refund you won't get the fee returned as part of the full refund that you issue, so best not?

Also if you refund 'held' funds then it will be sourced from your linked bank account and not from the held funds.

Your best bet is to........mark the transaction as processed then the buyer or sender may have the option on their account to mark the transaction as delivery/satisfied. If the buyer or sender confirms this by clicking on the "Confirm Receipt" button, funds may be released sooner ie 7 days after the buyer or sender verifies receipt. This is not always available or guaranteed.
If not then sadly its 21 days.
