I have been using PapPal for a number of years. I live in Europe and transact mainly in Euro - i.e. my purchases are in Euro and my credit cards and bank accounts are denominated in Euro. I only notoiced recently that Paypal has been automatically converting all of my Euro purchase transactions into USD and then back to Euro and this has been costing me quite a lot of money on each transaction.
Is there some way to turn this off?
Is this legal? I am not sure if I was ever informed that they were doing this?
I closed down PayPal now for all automatic payments and I now use Revolut which is far more transparent.
I regard this as "sharp practice" from PayPal and I am tempted to put in an official complaint to the EU Ombudsman for Consumer Affairs.
This is stealing money!
