An invoice was paid but the money is on hold

We are farmers,  I had an inquiry about joining our CSA (community supported agriculture).  They wanted to pay with PayPal. I have never invoiced a customer before but it seemed simple enough to make it up and have it sent to her email address. She paid the $400 minus a PayPal fee I didn't know existed. Transaction is on hold I get no money for 21 days?

Firstly yes you pay a fee to receive paypal payments for selling, that is how paypal fund the service and pay their staffs wages.

However if you were not selling then they could have used the friends/family option which would mean you did not pay a fee BUT unfortunately you can't accept friends/family payments on business accounts, which is what you have.

Secondly yes new sellers are subject to the new seller hold as per link >>>

Thanks for your advice. My inexperience caused this to happen. I guess it will now be a waiting game.
