Hi I am new to this community page. I am hoping someone can help me in solving my problem.. on the 18th April I bought a pirates fancy dress outfit off ebay which has been paid for and it was posted to me which I have also received but then I had an email off paypal stating that I owe for an item I have had I presume it is for the outfit. I have since had a letter from my bank to say I have had an unpaid direct debit on 2 different dates from paypal. I have never set up a direct debit nor have I authorised one to be set up and because of this I have now got £70.00 bank charges. I have since cancelled the dd but I dont want to have to pay the charges. Can anyone help me please?

When you add a bank account to your paypal account to pay for items it automatically sets up the direct debit mandate so you can fund your purchases.
Its not a monthly amount or anything the only money that is withdrawn is by you when you pay for items.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I have paid for my item and this has been recieved but paypal have tried to take the amount out of my bank by direct debit on two occasions and because the funds wasn't in my account I now have £70.00 bank charges. Im not happy at all as this is alot of money to me. Looks like I will have to pay for theses charges but I have always used paypal to pay for goods and never had it come up as a direct debit. What makes it even worse is I never intended to set one up so it should not be taken as a dd. Thank you for your reply though.

If you added your bank account to your paypal account then you HAVE set up a direct debit as that is the only way you can pay via instant bank transfer.
Also remember that when you pay a seller paypal credit them in advance and the money to reimburse paypal from your bank account may not leave your bank account for up to 3 days AFTER you have paid the seller.
