Why is Facebook able to add itself to pre-approved payments list on Paypal?

I've never purchased anything off Facebook and I have no intention to. I know they've made their store massively more intrusive recently but I was still completely shocked to find they have somehow added themselves to my pre-approved payments list as if I subscribed or purchased something. How has Facebook done this and how am I supposed to trust Paypal if companies I've never paid money to can randomly add themselves to my list and potentially bill me for things despite never making a purchase?!

If any other users have any idea how they got into my list, I'd be much obliged.
