Can I split the total amount, paying with one credit card and complete with another credit card or bank account?

Welcome to the boards!

Currently, each payment can only have one funding source (barring a portion of it coming from your active PayPal balance).  That means that a transaction has to be fully supported by a single card.

You could split the purchase into two separate payments; however, you will not be covered under the terms of the Purchase Protection Program at that point.  Any time a buyer sends more than one payment for one item, the Purchase Protection program is voided.

However, since you mentioned splitting it between a bank and a card, here's a way to do it and still keep your protection. Use the Add Funds feature from your bank to beef up your PayPal balance.  Then, when you go to send the payment, select to pay from a card only.  Your available balance will be used up and the remainder charged to your card.  Since you've  now sent only a single payment, you remain eligible for the Purchase Protection Program in regards to having sent only a single payment!  Smiley Happy

Just in case anyone at Paypal cares, I spoke on the phone with one of your representatives who told me that I absolutely could make a payment with two credit cards.  She had no idea what was going on and gave a wrong answer.  This is about all I expect from these kinds of reps: usually underpaid and under trained.  What can you expect?  Wastes a lot of my time.
