help Seller wants my paypal Id

I was trying to buy some shoes online and the seller asks for my paypal id. I have never had to give it out is it safe. This is what it says for paypal users is it safe.

After you placed the order, please sent an email with your Order Number and PayPal ID to , then we'll send you a payment request to your PayPal. After that please login to your PayPal account to pay it.

I couldnt say for sure but it may be due to all the problems sellers/buyers have been having sending/receiving money via ebay/paypal. 

I have been unable to make payments through ebay/paypal for a while now so have resorted to messaging sellers to ask them for their paypal email address, logging on to paypal directly, going to send money, entering their email address, the amount and the auction ID and sending the payment that way.

As I say I cant say for sure...maybe email the seller and ask them why they are requesting your email address.
