Like others that have posted previously, I wish to PETITION PayPal to please NOT CANCEL the PayPal PlugIn.
I am long-standing Merchant Account holder and I have made frequent use of this invaluable tool.
The reaons that make it so compelling are:
- A card that is backed by your PayPal account is PERFECT for shopping online at the millions of sites that do not accept PayPal currently.
- A single use card offers SECURITY beyond anything else available anywhere, certainly more so than the actual plastic counterpart.
- The receipts locker is ultra CONVENIENT for keeping track of purchases and for reconciliation at tax time.
Please, PLEASE, reconsider and DO NOT CANCEL the PlugIn. If your issues are mainly with software maintenance and browser compatibility, then make it available for only those operating systems and browsers that you can easily support. Those of us that feel the need to continue using this great tool, will adapt. Those that do not wish to adapt, can just live without - why deny the rest of us?

Hello soiferheld
Thank you for participating and I have heard from some that they really like this product we offered. As of this time the PayPal Plug In will be gradually phased out with a total discontinuation by September 22nd. While the product has been a valuable asset for many, overall we were not satisfied with the experience we were providing to our customers with this tool.
PayPal's top priority is to provide a seamless experience with any of our products and when that is not possible we do at times decide to discontinue its availability. While I realize this can be an inconvenience to those who do use it, we feel it is in the best interest of all. I truly appreciate your support of this.

I totally agree that the PlugIn is invaluable, especially for those with disabilities. As a person who is homebound with a disability, the PlugIn has been invaluable in allowing me to buy supplies from vendors that do not currently accept PayPal. The PlugIn has given me some mobility that I would not have had otherwise, so please do not discontinue, tell me your preferred browser, and I can live with that, etc. Or better yet, I used to be a very good salesperson before my disability, hire me to promote your Paypal service to vendors that benefited from the PlugIN to get on line with your full vendor services.

I've seen SO many messages saying people are unhappy with the decision to discontinue this valuable tool. If all of us are saying we were so satisfied with the experience, how can PayPal be disatisified with the experience you were giving your customers?!
I'm not about to use the PayPal credit card, which means I will now be using PayPal less than I was, which does not seem to be good business on your part.

I, too, am VERY UNHAPPY that the Plug-In/Secure Card service is being discontinued. To my way of thinking, the PayPal Plug-In/Secure Card was an ingenious win-win marketing tool... I had a secure and convenient way to use PayPal at websites that did not offer the PayPal option, and the company had increasing business from me. When the topic of PayPal came up at the "water cooler" and my colleagues would say they didn't use PayPal because they had heard about PayPal accounts being fraudulently breached, I went out of my way to tell them about the Secure Card feature and how easy and smart it was to generate a one-time, one-amount credit card. Not only did the Secure Card allow me to use PayPal to pay to an unlimited number of vendors, but it also provided another layer of protection between my bank account and the vendor, which I highly valued. Plus, the knowledge that my Secure Card payment would automatically come from my bank account so I wouldn't be hit with a high credit card balance each month was awesome.
In my case, the loss of the Plug-In/Secure Card function will SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE my use of PayPal. I have plenty of credit cards and can see no advantage to getting another one. As I review my options, except for eBay (which I use very little), I can see no reason to even keep (or recommend opening) an account with PayPal. I will have to go back to using my existing credit card. PayPal's suggestion that I get a PayPal credit card, create a Money Market Fund, and then deposit money from my bank into it, is a clumsy "fixit" that goes beyond the ridiculous.
This "concentrate on new products" explanation is nothing but spin, and insulting to the customers. The obvious reason why PayPal is discontinuing the Secure Card feature is to gain more vendors. As long as PayPal customers can generate a payment to a non-participating website, the vendor has no incentive to pay the hefty fee to PayPal to participate directly. However, I think this bully tactic will backfire because the number of customers who will drastically reduce their use of PayPal may just override any new revenue PayPal will gain from new vendor fees. Talk about moving backwards... PayPal may just end up a puny, small thinking company, useful only to eBay customers.
Maybe PayPal will realize what a blunder it has made and bring back the Plug-In/Secure Card feature "by popular demand."
Companies who forgo customer service in favor of profit stunt their growth.

Hello to all...
I am not going to sit here and repeat what everyone else has said, as there is no point to that. I am here
merely to add myself to the numbers, and to help show the management that we do in fact, want this
program to continue, and that we find it very useful. When I need to make a payment to a company that I have
not dealt with before, I am grateful to have PayPal plug-in so that I can pay my bill, and to remain, somewhat
anonymous, yet still in touch with my own reality.
So..... for the record.... "NO, I DO NOT WANT THOSE IN CHARGE TO REMOVE MY PAYPAL PLUG-IN. I USE IT,
AND FEEL VERY SAFE WHEN I DO, CONFIDENT THAT MY EMAIL ADDRESS AND PERSONAL INFORMATION
IS SECURE. SO PLEASE...... PLEASE, IF THERE IS ANY CHANCE AT ALL THAT THIS DECISION MAY BE
RECONSIDERED, AND PERHAPS REVERSED, .... BOTH MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS WILL BE IMMENSELY GRATEFUL.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Truthfully..... one of the main reasons that I do like the plug-in, is that I know, that when I send a payment to
a company, especially one that I haven't dealt with before.... then I know that they can only get what I choose to
send them. No one can try to set up a repeating monthly charge for it, and the most important thing of all...
is that it makes me feel safe and secure using PayPal.
now what?? I know that there are other online banking services.... but I don't want to have to start all over again.
and besides.... how do I know how good they are? Well ... I may look anyway... just in case.
Another truth is though.... that although they try to give good customer service to everyone, I have no doubt, that the
individuals and companies that keep alot of money in their account, are the ones that they will cater to.... afterall, they
ARE a bank!

Dear PayPal:
I have a few things to say regarding the upcoming dreaded discontinuation of the PayPal plugin.
I am a longtime customer of yours. For years now, I've made my money entirely online and purchase the things I need and want almost exclusively online. The ability to generate temporary credit card numbers through PayPal's Secure Card feature was INVALUABLE to me. I mean it -- utterly 100% invaluable. ** In fact, there is honestly no other service that I value from PayPal more than the SecureCard feature, period. **
It's very obvious to me just from reading all these other replies that I'm not alone. How can you guys see all this feedback and still keep a straight face when telling all of us that you're doing away with Secure Cards in order to pursue "more popular features"?
PayPal is the premier way to pay for things online -- you guys shouldn't be *scaling back* your services, especially one as wildly useful as your Secure Cards!
Please please PLEASE please please please please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (to the power of 100!) do not get rid of the Secure Card feature. Keep Paypal ahead of their game -- I'd rather not have to go somewhere else to get my online transaction needs fulfilled.
Most earnestly,
L. Wilson

I also would like to have the PayPal Plug-in / SecureCard stay.
I loved the one time use / disposable credit card number feature very valuable and it saved from from having a vendor automatically bill me a year later when i didn't want to be re-signed up without being told.
For the time being, I'm going to start signing up for the Shopsafe feature that Bank of America has that does the same thing from what I have read. I see Citibank credit cards have the same feature too.
