Error when trying to pay? Help!

So I just created my own paypal account the other day, but I'm quite familiar with using paypal, since I've used my mom's account many times before. I have my debit card and checking account all linked and verified. However, when I try to pay for an invoice sent  to me, I keep getting this error message, and I have no idea why. Help?

 

Message: An error occurred while processing your request. Before submitting this again, log in and check your Account History to ensure that the transaction didn't complete.

yes I had the same problem and spent two hours trying to figure it out.!!. one suggestion I found was to change your internet browser (I was using firefox and chose internet explorer and it worked) bizzarre!
