Why are my payments which were pending now ON HOLD? I do not see any reason for this. Goods sent and received by customer. Positive feedback received yet still no payment. Holding payments for no reason will put off a lot of people form using Paypal. They are quick enough to take their fee but not quick enough to pay the seller.

Ebay sales = Ebay hold and not a paypal hold.
Different criteria for release of funds for both companies dependent on if you sell on ebay or privately.
And positive feedback is not a criteria for payment release.

Not so sure about that. What exactly would stop the payment processing from Ebay? I've ticked all the neccessary boxes. This is purely driven by Paypal not releasing payments.

In that case they would have the same criteria for release.
Ebay authorises when paypal can release ebay payments.
From EBAYS help pages >>> WHERE IT STATES AN EBAY AND NOT A PAYPAL HOLD.
eBay payment hold for new sellers | While you establish your selling track record, funds from buyer payments may be delayed. Generally, holds stay on until 7 days after the estimated delivery date or 3 days after confirmed delivery. If there's a problem or a case after the delivery, another hold will be placed until the case is resolved. You’ll be considered an established seller once:

Appreciate the feedback. It seems to be common complaint on the forums. Its a pretty frustrating experience for legitimate sellers/buyers.

Luckily it does not last too long and also as long as you send trackable you should get the funds released more quickly.

ive just sold a laptop on ebay, buyer paid with paypal, found out payment is on hold for 7 - 21 days after ive sent proff of posting!!! you cannot walk into a shop and take goods saying you will pay them in 7 to 21 days,, you would be arrested if you tried for theft... why should this be any different? i will not send goods until i have been paid. also who keeps the interest paid on all the money on hold? as ebay own paypal dont they rip sellers off enough by charging to kist then charge a final valuation fee, then paypal charge for being paid for using thier servive and now put the money into thier account for 7 to 21 days. this is theft of MY money. its paid to me . i have removed paypal from payment method for future sales. very **bleep** off, and so is my buyer

Lot of misinformation in there >>
ive just sold a laptop on ebay, buyer paid with paypal, found out payment is on hold for 7 - 21 days after ive sent proff of posting!!!
Firstly proof of postage is NOT one of the criteria for payment release, only a tracking number is. And if you provide a tracking number from an ebay shipping label then funds are released when it shows delivery PLUS 3 days.
i will not send goods until i have been paid.
If you do not send the goods then you will get a dispute for non receipt of item and you probably won't have to worry about the payment hold anymore as you won't be allowed to sell and you will get neg feedback.
You have been paid, you are at no more risk of losing that money as if you had it in your bank account. The only difference is that if you lost a dispute the funds are there for paypal to refund the buyer whereas if you had them in your bank account you would have to transfer them to paypal to pay the buyer back. So for new sellers paypal keeps the funds ''handy'' until you have proved yourself.
as ebay own paypal d
Except ebay DOES NOT own paypal, they are now 2 totally separate companies EACH with their own held funds policies and release structure.
dont they rip sellers off enough by charging to kist then charge a final valuation fee, then paypal charge for being paid for using thier servive and now put the money into thier account
No one forces you to sell on ebay, if you don't like the fees then don't list any items for sale. Try real life auctions they are much more expensive.
You pay Ebay to advertise and sell your item. You pay Paypal to be able to accept online payments from buyers.
this is theft of MY money.
Its certainly not theft and its NOT your money, its the buyers money until the buyer has received their item and are happy with it.
i have removed paypal from payment method for future sales.
Good luck with that one then, as I for one would not buy from you or send funds to a ''stranger'' without paypal buyer protection.
very **bleep** off, and so is my buyer
Well if i was your buyer if you did not send my item promptly you would be getting a dispute for non receipt AND negative feedback.
EVERY single seller on ebay has been through the ''new seller'' hold, most don't come on here whinging as they know its for buyer protection and we want buyers to buy from us with confidence.
But you are correct, I think car boot sales would be better for you.
