Buying item £4500

Is it true that I have to pay straight into persons bank account through paypal if it's a high amount say £4500. Also I thought motorised vehicles were not covered by paypal guarantee but I have received an email (apparently) from paypal saying motorised vehicles covered up to £10 000 under buyer protection if paid through paypal. Can anyone confirm - I am confused. Thanks John

This person is trying to scam u, if u pay into their bank account u will never see the money again or the vehicle!

Thank you for all replies. You have confirmed my worst fears. Bit concerned that the email says it's from paypal and obviously fraudulent. It's absolutely disgusting. Tried to pay £500 deposit via paypal until we could view the motorhome but seller said not necessary. How do I report this to paypal before someone else loses their money.

Never pay deposits either as ppal will only help u if a payment is made in full

U can forward the email to spoof@paypal.com

1. I would never send an amount that large via paypal especially if i had not seen the item i was buying.

2. You can't pay straight into someones bank account via paypal, you can only pay to their paypal account and they can then withdraw it to their bank account.

3. There is no buyer protection with motor vehicles.

Cash on collection AFTER you have inspected the item and are happy with it is the way to go OR pay into his bank account via online banking AFTER you have collected the car.

Have u tried out/tested the vehicle, how do u know u are not paying for a heap of junk?

Well please dont do it, and if u are going to buy a vehicle have it inspected by a  mechanic first and pay cash on collection always
