Have just created payment button which successfully appears my webpage -- but disappears when I upload the page to the internet.

Your issue is more related to your html editor or web site.  The PayPal item button code is simply an HTML Form.  Many web sites and/or blogs don't play well with HTML Forms.  You would need to do some homework to find out if you can use Forms.  The work around would be to use the email or hyperlink version of the button code if Forms are not permitted.
