Multiple purchase postage charges????

I am using a flat rate shipping cost per item, however no matter how many items are purchased the postage rate remains the same?

How do I set the postage charge per item? I cant see this anywhere.

The price range postage guide is no use to me

Ive worked out that I need to use the "shipping2" advanced HTML code but do I just copy and paste this into the advanced box? Cos that does nothing?
