i sent an item by royal mail recorded special delivery tracked etc was advised the small air tank had to be emptied by counter staff which we did .however received that it was destroyed. have refunded buyer but now we are out pocket and looks like chances of a claim against royal mail slim !! anyone else have this problem . so what is seller is covered and we pay fees to paypla does this cover this type of thing ?

Seller protection is not a 100% coverall and certainly does not cover you if your items are damaged in the post.
Seller protection covers you for false non receipt of item claims where you can provide a tracking number or for unauthorised claims or chargebacks IF you meet all the criteria of seller protection.
You pay your FEES to be able to receive instant online payments from customers including from credit cards.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
