paypal charges regarding postage

Just noticed when issuing a refund due to access postage, that paypal issue some of it....

Does that mean they add the postal costs to the auction amount before calculating their cut?? Seems that way to me so I have been losing out for the last 6 months by not working this out and covering it in the P&P costs.

Example, sold an item for just 50p, after the £6 postage (overseas) my charge for this was 45p!! I only charge the exact p&p so my I made 5p on that item!! This cannot be right.

Anyone able to confirm my concerns??

Thanks

You pay ebay to advertise and sell your item.

You pay paypal to receive card funded payments. So i don't understand what postage has to do with it.

If your buyer pays you £9.60 for an item plus postage then pay with paypal then paypal will charge you for receiving £9.60 via the buyers funding source.

Each transaction is 3.4% + 20p.
