Hi there inearlygaveup,

I have recently responded to a similar question. This is a copy of my response.

Receiving money with PayPal is easy!

All you need is a PayPal account with a confirmed email address.

Your email address is the only thing somebody needs to send you money. As soon as the payment has been credited to your PayPal account, we will notify you by email. You may then withdraw the funds to your bank account straight away or keep the money in your PayPal account for future online transactions.

All your transactions are stored in your account History, so you can keep track of them.
I hope this helps,
Paula

New scams - they contact you asking if they can pay you through paypal.  They send you a payment that shows up in your account as "Pending" ...  a few days later you get a fake email saying the funds have been moved to your account as real.  Then you send the item and the funds are never actually moved over...    Look it up on the Internet..  Many from craigslist have been scammed....  Do a google search for the words in the subject line for this posting..

I would be careful of this if I were you.  If you have sold something on Ebay and linked your PayPal account to your ebay account why do they need your email address?  If they also have a PayPal account it is easy for them to pay you.  I had a request to pay outside Ebay for something that somebody wanted me to make for them, I replied that it was against Ebay policy  and I didn't want a strike against my name.  Ebay rules states that a buyer has 4 days to pay you then you need to decided whether or not you are going to take non payment action against them.

Good luck with this one!
