Cancelling a refund when customers missing item turns up

I had a customer claiming her item had not arrived. I asked her to check it wasn’t at the post office, but she said it wasn’t. I was in the middle of moving house so could not find the receipt and issued a refund via PayPal. Two days later this was still in pending on my account and I found the receipt. Royal Mail were holding the item at the silly woman’s local office and had been for days. I phoned PayPal to cancel the refund, they said I would have to cancel via my bank as the funds had been requested there. My bank have said they will reject the payment. This leaves me with a mess on my eBay selling account as I can’t find any way to undo the status of the item. The woman now has her item, but it’s still marked as refunded. I have sent eBay a message with the tracking number, but no reply. What can I do ?

Hi there Seasidenana,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community!

As PayPal and eBay are now two separated Companies, I am afraid that you best option to solve this eBay issue is to contact them directly. Unfortunately, PayPal won't be able to check, update or modify your eBay account in any way.

Hope this helps!

Martina
