just received an unsolicited call purporting to be from paypal saying I was to receive a payment from coinbase of €750 - press 1 to continue [I did not do this - killed the call].
No phone number was shown... is my account still secure?

Killing the call was a smart move. This was either a phishing scam attempting to gain access to your PayPal account, or else a scammer trying to get you to send them money and/or information. I doubt that anyone has accessed your account, but changing your password and/or adding 2FA might not be a bad idea, especially given how PayPal reacts to scams.
