After a review, we've decided to permanently limit your account due to potential risk. You’ll not be able to conduct any further business using PayPal.

This is the most frustrating situation. Yes cannot do anything. They should be collectively sued for keeping my banking info and not being able to close m5 account. I've been using this PayPal for a decade. Just buying and some recurring paid subscription. I did nothing wrong and they don't even tell me why they decided to limit permanently my account? What kind of company this is with such a disrespect to its customers? Never gonna use them anymore and I'll do all the bad publicity I can for this outrageous situation. That is so disrespectful and arrogant.

The same thing happened to me today. We use it for our business. No idea what is going on. Does anyone know of a solution?

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a solution. I was given no reason. Not even a hint to what tos I supposedly violated. Nothing. PAYPAL operator tried to look and said it seemed odd. She couldn't see an issue.

If you have been told your Paypal account has been permanently limited then Paypal tends to hold any funds for 180 days. This is the same time frame that buyers have to open Paypal disputes.

If no disputes are opened in 180 days then normally you are allowed to withdraw the funds. That is as long as you are over 18, account is in your legal name and the account is registered in the country where you reside.

Sometimes they confiscate funds under this policy.

Paypal also may request further documentation from you before you can withdraw those funds.

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

Yes, there are thousands of us that have had account limitations. Placed on our accounts for NO apparent reason. And when you contact PayPal customer service. They say they are not allowed to give you any type of answer. REALLY? PayPal limits my account but doesn't know why? This makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.

They know why, but they don't have to tell you unfortunately. Guess knowing wouldn't make any difference anyway if its a permanent ban.

Most common reasons for an account limitation are:-

1. You have a previously limited account (temporary or permanent) and you have tried to open a new account and not resolved the issues with the other account first.
2. Using a VPN.
3. Not living in the country where you opened your Paypal account.
4. Being under 18 / minor account.
5. Having 2 Paypal accounts or more of the same account type.
6. Not having your legal name on your Paypal account.
7. Selling items (often virtual or digital) that Paypal consider a high risk of disputes/chargebacks.
8. Using the friends/family option for sales transactions to try and evade Paypal fees and risk of disputes.
9. Too many disputes/claims.
10. Violating their acceptable use policy as per link.

This just happened to me today! Have you found a way to resolve it? Same situation, nothing wrong with my account and they can’t explain why they did it.
