Wrong location on 'We noticed a new device login' email

We noticed a new device login email shows my location as Sheffield, but that is not my location.  Does anyone know the reason for this?

I know right, mine always shows London when I'm in Cornwall  😁

Paypal answered my query, after reassuring me that my account was safe and no suspect activity on it - 'As for the location that showed on the email, it is one of the headquarters of your internet service provider that is close to your location.'  'Rest assured that we are looking into this update as well and have this monitored and reported.'

Never bothered me as I knew my account was ok.

Glad you are sorted.

Had same problem with "Login from a new device" email with wrong location. Tried to feedback details via form and got "We're sorry this pay is not available" - waste of time. So community forum to the rescue and the answer!

So why can't Paypal improve the customer experience and avoid this confusing security warning? In my case I was using a known device in a completely different location so I thought it was a phishing email. Bad email credibility - even if it did include my name. So like others we just ignore these emails as just more spam.

I agree. I get loads of these from Paypal and other companies that I use, and as they are never accurate, why do they keep sending them as, one has to  input a code nowadays on your phone or computer so, it seems a double amount of time wasting. It seems to be more about the poor software of these companies.

I've had numerous notifications of log ins from other counties in the UK. It's worried me and made no sense so on each occasion I have changed my password. It turns out that I didn't need to have woried. It looks as if Pay Pal's system is floored and doesn't actually know where the log on was made. I've set up 2 part log in anyway, just in case I ignore an actual hack, that I mistake as an error in Pay Pal's system.
