Can you use a screen name, instead of actual PayPal username, to send and receive money in order to protect one's identity?

Hello @mmcl2112,
Welcome to the PayPal Community! This is a great question, I can certainly understand wanting to protect your privacy when using PayPal. While you're unable to use fake or pseudonyms on PayPal like with any financial service, you have the option of using a business name with a PayPal Business account. However, I would normally only recommend a Business account if you're an actual business operating under a registered business name. If you're just a casual seller and buyer, I would recommend using a Personal account. Here are a few resources you may find useful:
What is the difference between Personal and Business accounts?
What is PayPal's approach to privacy and the Privacy Statement?
Best wishes!
