Spread Debit

When I make a purchase from Alibaba, there is a charge for Spread Debit. This is not on my invoice from Alibaba. Why is PayPal adding it and what is it for?

I have just come across this on my latest payment to Alibaba $118.00  added to the bottom ..  I think you say you got this refunded , who did you approach about this fee and did they explain what is was for?

I just experienced this same charge.  I made a payment on Alibaba using Paypal and was charged a SPREAD_DEBIT charge.  Paypal did not know what this was.  I contacted Alibaba and it is a 2.99% processing fee for using Paypal.  However, it is strange how Paypal breaks it out by making the itemized charges less and adding them into this SPREAD_DEBIT line item.  It doesn't make sense to me how it appears on my Paypal invoice, but if you take your total order amount in Alibaba and apply a 2.99% processing fee the total amount paid through Paypal should equal that.   I hope this helps.
