Sam Ash scam resolution

My husband found out that the Sam Ash Music stores were closing and saw an ad on Facebook to buy equipment at highly discounted prices.  It took him to a website with the Sam Ash logo and he ordered 2 guitars.  It went through PayPal but when the charge came up, it was from a scammer in China.  I called PayPal to let them know not to pay it, but I was told that because it was pending, I would have to wait 7 days and call back.  WHAT!  I'm letting them know that numerous people are buying from the fake site but they won't do anything about it now??

Buyers beware.  Do not go to a Sam Ash site from Facebook - it a scam!

Why doesn't PayPal block a proven scam account?

How long did you have to wait from when you placed the order?

What really irritates me is that Facebook accepts these scam ads and then is very slow to take them down.

I once bought a scam item from a facebook ad only to discover that the scammers actually had a facebook page with hundreds of complaints!

Sunday I found 1,300 fake Facebook Ad campaigns impersonating Sam Ash. It’s all online for everyone to see. So my question is why is Facebook insisting these ads do not violate their company standards and remove them? They are STEALING credit card and Facebook is looking the other way. Is there anyone to look or it just a computer program. Even the worst algorithm or dumbest AI can see the Sam Ash logo and words impersonating them, luring you to click and go to go to a fake site that is not Sam Ash with fake products and fake prices. A fake emailed receipt. What is real is the money GONE from your acct and the need to get a new one along with the pain and aggravation of going without a card and trying to fix automated payment Armageddon. Call Interpol, call FTC, FCC, attorney general, FBI. Facebook is hosting a criminal activity and getting away with it. Do we need a class action suit?

I feel like they are targeting people who are musicians and have done business with the real Sam Ash in past, These are very sophisticated emotional appeals. It’s almost like they got in your head. I never click on FB ads, but they knew I wanted a Yahama saxophone, had my eye out looking for a deal and was aware Sam Ash was liquidating. They knew I wanted it so bad and thought if I did any kind of research I wouldnt get the 1-2 left, which was a lie and actually how I realized I was scammed, the number left kept going up and down from 5 to 3 to 2 to 5 again. I was willing to look past the ridiculously low price because I had convinced myself it was the last day and they had to let go of professional instruments for $129. The regular price of the horn is $3,700, not $800. I’m embarrassed to have fallen for it.

Yep, got me too!  I followed the link from Facebook’s site to the Sam Ash scam site.  I realized moments after placing the order that it was scam and immediately called my credit card provider and put a hold on my card.  I also realized that although my PayPal account is set up for two factor verification, that the verification process was skipped (no code sent).

The seller on the PayPal receipt was listed as Wild Birds Unlimited.  Since this appears to be a legitimate vendor (but does not sell drums!), does anyone know how that part of the scam works?  How do they get the $129?  Also, does anyone know if their data, such as credit card, bank account numbers, was compromised?

And please don't tell me Meta can't stop this entirely.

Why not just look for any ad with a Sam Ash logo and if it's not samash.com, don't allow the ad to run. And if it's running, shut it down.

If AI is so great, just tell it to stop the fraud!!!
