A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.

Hi, thank you for answering me and sorry for not beeing detailed with my situation. I've searched all over paypal for the answer, I've tried to contact the seller via paypal and via e-mail, still no answer, the thing is, that, when I've ordered this item, chose paypal as a payment method, I wasn't thinking, paypal authomatically gave me 'pay a friend' and I've clicked to 'pay' button. So, basically, I haven't bought anything, for paypal, I've sent a goft to a friend. Exept, I would never send a gift to a friend and then requested it back. How come that in these situations paypal has no protection for the buyer/ the one who sends any money? I really am dissapointed. If you can still help me, I would really really be thankfull! Best regards, Kaxawarat

In every situation I had open a Dispute, Paypal alway takes the sellers silde. You as a customer have to make a choice of staying or leaving. I choose to leave, it's better to just use your credit card and get better service.

Yes, unfortunatly, it seems to be so, I'm already avoiding to use paypal. It shouldn't be this way, it shouldn't be this easy to trick others and get away with money. But, to be honest, when I tried to open dispute, there was no option of fraud in sense of taking the money for non existing item, the options were just about stolen identity, stolen card or possible usage of account by someone else. However, thank you for your reaponses and let's be smarter in the future! Best regards, Kacawarat
