PayPal doing nothing to combat fraud

PayPal are a disgrace and do nothing to combat fraud. I got duped by a very elaborate scammer and ended up paying for something using friends and family. We all make mistakes. It was a genuine fraud that the police are currently looking into. However, PayPal are refusing to help in any shape or form because I paid with friends and family. I appreciate this was a huge error on my part, but however way you look at it, I’m out of pocket and the scammer has my money through an act of crime. By refusing to chase these payments down, PayPal are in essence creating this loop hole that scammers are taking advantage of. PayPal are actually supporting organised and systemic fraud!!

There is no loophole.

Was he a close mate? No?

Was he a family member? No?

If NO to both then why would you use that option?

Paypal clearly state you have no buyer protection if you use that option, you chose to go ahead anyway, your call so your mistake.

Sadly paypal can't bail you out for your poor decision making.

Yep, if you don't protect yourself by using the correct option as paypal advise you to then YOU will allow scammers to win.

Ah right………your perfect I see. As is everybody else who uses PayPal. How about PayPal completely ditches friends and family. Funny that in 2019 pretty much all of the major financial institutions signed up to a new charter to combat scams and fraud……strangely PayPal didn’t sign up.

No organisation or person is perfect and don't think I stated they were.

But paypal clearly states you have NO paypal buyer protection for friends/family payments.

Yet having broken paypal rules and used that option you then turn around and blame Paypal for your mistake.

🙄
