Hi,

As the subject says, I suddenly got three security codes to my phone. I did not try to login to PayPal myself at the moment. Anyone else experienced the same? I've checked the regular breach reporting sites, and didn't find my account in any breaches related to PayPal. Has anyone any suggestions what cause this?

Hello @Temp20240128V

Welcome to the PayPal Community!

I completely understand the concern caused when you received security codes you weren't expecting, and I'm sorry to hear that it occurred. If you did not request the codes, that may mean someone is trying to log into your PayPal account. They could be trying to reset your password and were stopped by the security code. They might also have figured out your password, but our Security System noticed it was a suspicious login, so it prevented further actions by requesting that code.

Anytime something like this happens, I recommend resetting your password and security questions right away, following these instructions, and using these tips. If the codes you were receiving were being sent by your 2-Step Verification, that's great! If you don't have 2-Step Verification, you can learn how to set it up here. If you do notice any unauthorized activity after logging into your PayPal account, you can file a dispute using PayPal's Purchase Protection Policy

I hope this helps!
