Is paypal agent on hangout a real thing??

Got 'payed' by an acquaintance for money owed, supposedly, but got a spam email from [removed]', saying the transaction is pending, and to get the payment cleared I would need to contact a PayPal customer agent on Hangout.

Is it a complete scam?? Havent opened any links from it thankfully. But keen to get the money..

Until you can confirm you've received the payment within your PayPal account, we do not recommend shipping an item or providing a service.
