I recently got scammed $60 for some I did not receive. I thought I was buying an account for a game I played because it had death note skins I wanted. When I payed the $60 to the person I was buying it from the person started to avoid me. I went to the website (<A href="https://www.epicnpc.com/chat/?type=inbox&amp;group=3087679" target="_blank">https://www.epicnpc.com/chat/?type=inbox&amp;group=3087679</A>) I was buying the account from and file a complaint. One of the moderators reach out to me and I showed them the messages between me and the person, after seeing the messages, the moderator agreed with me and banned the person from the website so he wouldn’t scam anyone else after that the moderator told me to open a refund case on PayPal(<A href="https://www.epicnpc.com/chat/?type=staff&amp;group=3088466" target="_blank">https://www.epicnpc.com/chat/?type=staff&amp;group=3088466</A>). I tried opening a refund case on PayPal but got declined. Is there any way I can get this money back? I have all proof to prove that I got scammed.

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.

All depends on how you paid, did you send the money using friends/family OR goods/services?
