Asked for verification on log-in, unable to receive text, do not use Whatsapp & won't put id online?

I have been a member of Paypal for decades.  Recently almost every time I go to log in there is a request for verification to finish logging in.  I choose to receive a text and is says it is unable to and to try another option.  I am using the number verified on my account.  Sometimes I get the option to receive a call and sometimes it is not there.  I do not use Whatsapp and that is not an option.  I also refuse for security reasons to put my photo id online where that is accessible.  The only option is to put in my credit card number which is a pain.  I called Paypal and not only were they not understanding but seemed to easily dismiss my question.  When I mentioned not receiving the text they said to 'try another way'.  The person I spoke with was surprised I would not put my id online and questioned why.  They said I would just have to put my credit card number in every time, then.  Not something I want to do.  Any thoughts?

I have a similar problem. Had 2 new credit cards which ask for verification. One option is a code via a text (but the 3 numbers at the end are not mine and don't relate to the phone numbers I have on my account). The other option is PINsentry which I'll have to order.
