I sent a deposit yesterday of $2500 for a used car to a friend. Since I knew the person, I used F&F. After the first payment had gone through, I thought to text my friend asking about the car. Apparently all her accounts had been hacked, and my money was gone. I'm not sure what I can do through PayPal about this, but I'm hoping someone here has had luck disputing payments made to fraudulent or fake accounts. Any advice??

You broke paypal rules unfortunately by selecting f/f to pay for goods regardless if it was to a friend or not. A friends/family payment is a 'gift' of money sent to a friend or family member. If they had their accounts hacked then they need to report unauthorised transaction to get a refund (if that did occur), and then they can refund you.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
