Account limitations

So here's the full rundown.

I opened a business account in order to receive payments on my pet supplies online shop. that business didn't work out well for me so I decided to start trading cryptocurrency using PayPal instead.

I have contacted PayPal support via Live Chat and asked the specific question of:

"I would like to start trading cryptocurrecy outside of PayPal because PayPal business is not eligble to hold cryptocurreny.

this process includes selling an X amount of cryptocurrency and recievig payments on PayPal.

before I start doing this, is it ok with PayPal's terms?"

I'm asking PayPal support this question because unlike the personal accounts, business accounts can't hold any cryptocurrency.

their answer was as follows: " Hi C**** , welcome to Pay Pal messaging, my name is G***** and I understand that you are having an issue today in relation to Crypto and payments. I am more than happy to assist you with this today.

I understand you wish to trade Crypto on a different platform and receive the payment on PayPaL. That's okay , it would just count as any other transaction received. As it is not possible to receive the Crypto Coins just the funds associated with that sale. "

the day after, I login to my PayPal account and see a big red alerts saying that "We're permanently limiting your account." so the next thing I do is to call PayPal on the phone. "Live chat feature always telling me that there are no live agents available for some reason."

The lady picks up, I tell her the situation, and she says that there's no reason why my account should be limited, which is good. so she tells me that she will submit an appeal for me.

I call PayPal again the next day to check on the appeal status, and now this guy tells me that this is a NO appeal case because he can't file or see the appeal history of my account.  he means that there's no submitted appeal about my account limitations.

and now I'm stuck with my funds in the account, stranded between conflicting answers of the PayPal customer support team.

Where is this going and what should I do?

Does anyone know a way to contact a senior profile in PayPal?

Hello @ChihebAjmia

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear you've run into some issues with a recent limitation on your account. There may be a few different reasons as to why your account may be limited, but normally if the limitation is permanent, there may not be a way to reverse that decision. However, if you would like to reach out to our Customer Support teams regarding this issue, I'd recommend trying to contact them via Twitter direct message or Facebook instant message.

Good luck with your case,

After 15 yrs with Paypal I switched to a Business account and continued trading as normal. Within 2-3 weeks of switching, my account was permanently limited with no appeal in the resolution centre. As OP did, I call the customer service centre and spoke with them, I was also told there was no visible reason to limit the account. He sent an escalated appeal to the "back room" and said it would take 3-5 business days for the appeal to be considered.  I phoned back 7 days later and was told that they had conducted the review and the account will remain limited. I asked why they had come to this decision and he could not tell me (luckily I spoke to the say guy).

I recently received a phishing e-mail from some **bleep** that should just get a proper job and have forwarded this to the phishing@paypal.com email asking if this could be related. I am not holding my breath as the first real time I have need to know anything about my account, they could not help me try and resolve an issue.   I would just love if someone could PLEASE contact me to discuss this issue and at least let me know if there any further potential threats against me financially. I truly feel that withholding this kind of information to the detriment of someone else is appalling.

Thank you for reading and hope someone here has the drive to help.

Hi @Baldrik

I am sorry to hear about your experience and that you have not been able to get this resolved. When an account is permanently limited there is generally not one specific thing or reason. Your account would be reviewed as a whole and everything on your account. For example, we would review the type of business that you are running and if there are risks involved, if there have been disputes opened and how they were resolved, if the account is verified, the list goes on. So, I'm afraid you would not get a definite answer however if your account was running okay until you changed it to a business account it may be something to do with your business. Sometimes your business does not align with ours and this can create a risk and could lead to your account being limited.

I would always say if you are not happy with our decision then please appeal. I know you have done this already but no harm in trying it again.

I hope this helps,

Paula

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I would think it has to do with the Business account and would love for it to be reverted back to a personal account. I am sure this would fix the problems, but when i asked about this, they said that they had to get the limitations lifted first. As they are not going to lift the limitations, I would have it a guess I would be unable to revert back to a Personal account. I both understand and dont at the same time.
