Somebody "wanted" to send money for us but it wasn't a normal procedure. We got an email from: fundtransferterms.com and we asked to click to moonpay.com. I think this was a fake email.

Someone is trying to buy consumer electronics from me, in a foreign country. I received an email allegedly from PayPal confirming payment but no PayPal logos were in the email and the address ended in gmail.com My balance does not reflect the payment, but it has been dormant for some time. From what I have read online PayPal will withhold funds in that situation. I’m due to ship on Monday but that email address has me real worried. I’ve tried contacting PayPal for verification of the transaction but I can’t get through to an agent. Can someone tell me how to reach them?

Hello @vidaju and @BoogWar

Thanks for visiting the Community!

I'm sorry to hear you're both suspicious of recent transactions. From what you have mentioned, it doesn't sound like either email you've received was from PayPal. All of our email domains end in PayPal.com. You can learn more about how to determine if an email is from PayPal on our Help Center: How do I spot and report a fake, fraudulent, spoof, or phishing emails? Please do not ship any items or provide a service until the payment shows within your PayPal Activity. If you're a new seller or haven't sold in some time, a hold can be placed on the payment. However, you will still have a record of the payment within your PayPal Activity. If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to contact Customer Support by clicking 'Contact' at the bottom of any PayPal page. Support is also available if you send a DM to @AskPayPal on Twitter or a PM to facebook.com/PayPal

I hope this helps!

I have had an almost close situation happen, without the loss of goods and or services of course, but the woman wanted to give me $1000.00. That was what she did, she found folks to give a crazy amount of money to "in the free and clear" without telling them of the back end fees she hammers people with. These people looking at a gift of money are broke, need money for maybe an illness in the family, and people like her get them through backend fees that are supposedly from Paypal and others. You have to watch out for these people. I found the person on my Instagram, and in talking to her, I took the time to figure it out. Thank you for an awesome thread.
