Seller asked for my PayPal details to send me a invoice

I'm a first time PayPal user and I'm about to purchase my first item off a Instagram account I've asked for the sellers PayPal details so I can pay him and he has asked for my PayPal details to send me a invoice through is this correct procedure when purchasing through PayPal??? The seller is fine with me paying through through PayPal goods and services so I'm pretty sure it's not a scam but just wanted to make sure my first transaction goes through smoothly. Please help...

1.The email address you use with Paypal identifies your Paypal account and you can send a seller payment that way.

2. Your phone number identifies your Paypal account if using the app, and you can pay the same way.

3. The seller can send a money request/invoice to your Paypal account for you to pay.

The latter is better as the seller can then fully describe the item that you are paying for and that may help you if you have to open a dispute for item received but not as described.
