Scam - How to get refund?

I've been scammed for online goods, and I am trying to get the money back.

I filed "report a problem" on the transaction, but there's no option for my situation, so I chose "unauthorized transaction", and PayPal resolved it as "no issue".

How can I create a dispute in the appropriate category if it's not available and now I don't even have the option anymore?

Hard to advise if you don't say how you sent the funds ie which paypal option did you use + how you funded the paypal payment + what it says on the transaction on your paypal account.

Sorry, didn't know what details are useful.

I've sent it through the "Family and Friends" option, not directly from my PayPal balance, but from a Attached card on my account.

The transaction is is completed but I didn't get what I paid for.

I don't have the option to dispute it again.

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.

So there's no option on PayPal to open a dispute and give documentation and proof of the fraud? Even if there are slim chances they help, there isn't even an option to start this process?

I got scammed for mobile tickets and couldn’t really find the right category either. Didn’t matter though since PayPal rejected my claim and said that the seller “provided adequate documentation” that the tickets were delivered. PayPal claims that if I don’t have the right documentation to prove there were no tickets sent, there is nothing they can do. I am so confused about how to provide documentation for something that doesn’t even exist. I thought we could trust PayPal 🤦‍♀️

I just had a similar problem. If you did not also get their protection plan then you are out of options and will not get a refund.
