My child opened an account for her Nan to give her money without my permission

My daughter is 16 now, but I have only just found out she's been using PayPal for her Nan to send her money behind my back.  Do I have any way to stop this happening? She shouldn't have been able to open an account in the first place, surely.  Her Nan won't listen to me, and has sent her £3,977 so far in 2023 alone.  It's making parenting impossible and frankly I'm at my wit's end.

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.

PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will need to be verified to accept funds into your balance or lift any limits.

As the child would be unable to verify the account it would be permanently locked for further use.

They may also have issues opening another account when they are 18.

Your best bet is to report her to customer services as an illegally opened minor account.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
