Gumtree purchase

Hi all.

What is the best way to protect myself when paying for something on Gumtree please? I'm just about to purchase a graphics card which is an amazing deal and want to ensure that if a scam is attempted them I'm looked after.

That depends on many factors all listed in Paypals buyer protection policy for you to read so you can risk assess your transactions.
Legal (bottom right of Paypals pages) > user agreement > buyer protection.

I used Paypal messaging service and was informed that once I was invoiced and then paid, the item would then be paid as goods and services. This would then give me full protection.

Gumtree seems to be a hunting ground for these fraudsters. I was also selling a car on Gumtree received a text message within minutes to email if vehicle was available.. if your the seller let the buyer come to you
