• this is an email apparently from PayPal .. what got me was the “FBI .and steam wallet comments. 
  Is this a classic scam?
  Important Note: Your payment is on hold and you are advised to follow this process to complete this transaction. According to PayPal safety policy, We will take full responsibility for any loss or damage, this transaction has been approved and confirmed. 
  
  PayPal Safety Procedures On How To Complete This Pending Transaction
  As per the New Payment policy including deliveries, we have debited the amount of $600.00 AUD from the Torres [removed] account, including the pickup fee of $100.00 AUD. We reserve the right to make sure both buyer and seller are safe. PayPal in cooperation with The FBI and The IFCC invented this measure to ensure the safety of both buyers and sellers in transactions that involve deliveries.
  
  The moving company wants to be paid with a Steam Wallet Gift Card You need to purchase a Steam Wallet Gift Card worth the pickup fee of $100.00 AUD from any store close to you and send pictures of the front and back of the Steam Wallet Gift Card and the receipt.
  
  You are to purchase the Steam Wallet Gift Card out of your pocket (upfront). You will be reimbursed with a total sum of $600.00 AUD after the verification of the Steam Wallet Gift Card. The movers will collect the Steam Wallet Gift Card from you upon pickup.

TOTAL SCAM. PayPal does not have a pick up fee, approval fee. Nor does PayPal ask you to buy gift cards. These are the fees PayPal automatically deducts and deposits the net amount in your account. PayPal does not hide your payments asking you the pay the fees first in order to see payment. Even if a payment is subject to a PayPal hold, you’ll still see record of payment in your account.

When a buyer or seller asks for your name, that is a red flag. Buyers and sellers will see each party’s account holder name after payment is sent/received. Scammers ask for name to address you in a fake PayPal payment email claiming they’ve paid when they haven’t.
