Sandbox payment for subscription fails with `Things don't appear to be working at the moment`message

I have implemented the Subscriptions with the JS SDK, the payment fails with the message `Things don't appear to be working at the moment`

I also noticed an API call failing with status code 500 and message `Unhandled api error` in the payment window.
